Blue looks: reflecting on culture, rethinking the present

True to its transformative spirit, the Portalblau Festival is committed to incorporating spaces for critical thinking into its artistic programme. It was with this aim in mind that Mirades Blaves was created, one of the festival’s own programmes, which opens up a space for dialogue and reflection on the issues of our time.

Blue looks (Mirades Blaves) brings together voices from the worlds of thought, research and public engagement to address issues that challenge contemporary society: human dignity, historical memory, the role of women in history, the challenges of technology, and scientific knowledge applied to health. Through lectures and open discussions, the programme invites the public to listen, reflect and share diverse perspectives on the world we inhabit.

This year’s programme opens with a discussion entitled “Human dignity in times of violence and uncertainty”, featuring the philosopher Francesc Torralba and the poet and humanist Carles Duarte, who will reflect on the ethical challenges of the present day, human rights and collective responsibility in a world marked by uncertainty.

Historian Queralt Solé will deliver the lecture “Women during the Civil War: active agents”, an exploration of the role of women during the conflict and the need to restore their participation and memory within the historical narrative.

The debate on the relationship between humanity and technology will feature the discussion “Humanity and the power of technology: paradise or trap?”, with Jordi Pigem and Juan García del Muro, moderated by Ignasi Rifé, who will reflect on the ethical limits of technology and its impact on human life.

Finally, neurologist Dr Yolanda Silva will present the lecture “Can we prevent and treat stroke? Key ideas”, focusing on prevention, risk factors and advances in the treatment of this disease.

With Mirades Blaves, the Portalblau Festival reinforces its commitment to becoming a space for thought and debate, where culture is shared, questioned and understood as a tool for viewing the present with greater awareness.
